CFC Mission Statement
The following three sections (Purpose, Mission and Vision) deal with somewhat vague terms that need to be clarified. The questions to be answered below are: "What is the difference between Purpose, Mission and Vision and how do they practically relate to the ministry at CFC?" The three sections that follow this one will go into greater detail on CFC's Purpose, Mission and Vision. When you are finished reading here you may click one of the "Ministries" links to the left or at the bottom of this page to return to the CFC Ministry list.
CFC's Purpose
CFC's Mission
CFC's Vision
Purpose for CFC is the biblical expectation for the church. The Lord through His word has given us why He created the church and what He expects of those who are in it. Therefore we understand that God created the church to bring glory to Himself (Ephesians 3:21). He then gave us the biblical means in which to accomplish this task: Worship, Instruction, Fellowship and Evangelism (W.I.F.E.). Our biblical expectation (Purpose) then, is to glorify God through the use of Worship, Instruction, Fellowship and Evangelism in His church.
In 1994 the leaders of CFC searched the Scriptures to clarify what was the biblical purposes of a church. We knew the over-arching purpose was to glorify God, but how specifically can a church do this? Through prayer and the study of the Bible, the Lord gave us four areas that any believing church must be practicing: Worship, Instruction, Fellowship and Evangelism. These four areas create the acronym, W.I.F.E., which is easy to remember since the church is the Bride of Christ (Revelations 19:7).
A Vision shows where we are going and where we will minister. It looks at where God has brought us (past) and where He is leading us (future). We believe that God gives different local bodies unique callings for their community just as He gives individuals unique callings. At CFC, the Lord has made it clear that we flourish when we minister to the whole person who is suffering sin's consequences by bringing that one to an ever-increasing relationship with Christ. Christ's vision for us is to His unique ministry of setting the captives free (Luke 4:18, Isaiah 42:1-7).
The Vision is a God-given passion for people and ministry. This Vision, therefore, determines where we invest resources and where we do not. It helps us see clearly what the Lord would have us look like in the future. The Vision is a strong motivator for us at CFC.
